Darts Chat & Gossip • Ruthless in Austria

Hi all
I made the journey to Austria on Thursday to prepare for the 1st europeon open of the year held at The Arena Nova i arrived there around 5pm and must admit the weather was superb blue skies and in the mid 20′s.I was rooming with Mick Todd at the Orange Wings Hotel which was a 2 min walk to the venue.
On Friday morning i get a phone call saying Adrian isnt coming which i found strange as this was a new tournament which ment i was into round 2 without throwing dart in round 2 i was up against Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright and was scheduled to play him Saturday at 3.00pm on the main stage, as the time approached they get you ready for your walk on and as i entered the arena the crowd was rocking and then my music started and it was my turn to get the crowd going with VINDALOO with the fans getting into it i entered the stage and got them up on there feet thios felt amazing, then Peter entered the stage and the crowd got behind him 2,i must admit this wasn’t the best game we have both played but i was happy to get a 6-3 win again against a top 32 player i would like to thank the markers and mr noble for doing a top job.So this put me into the last 16 where i was up against Micheal Van Gerwen on Sunday. After the match with Peter i sat in the crowd and got hounded with autograpghs and photos which i really enjoyed.
Sunday:
So game on against ‘MVG’ ive never played him before but no how dangerous he can be so i will do what i always do and thats play the board not the player. And after another fantastic reception from the crowd as i entered the stage this was a crucial game for me as i was aiming for another quarter final place as i had one in the last pro-tour event. I took a 5-2 lead but was short lived as micheal got into a zone where he produced some very good darts to bring it back to 5-5 and with my darts i held my nerve and took out 80 to win 6-5 and book my self in the last 8 against Dave Chisnell.
We played this game around 8.00pm i lost the bull but took the 1st leg but lost the next 5 as Dave just went on a run of high scoring hitting 180′s for fun but in the 7th leg and 8th i found a bit of form to get it back 5-3 but was short lived as Dave see it of to win 6-3 a good performance from him.
So out of the tournament but very happy with my performance on a big stage and now pushing on to qualify for the Matchplay.
Well done to Justin Pipe who was outstanding through this tournament a well deserved win to a top bloke.
I would like to thank the markers and the mc throught this tournament who did a top job and to the europeon organisers who put on this event.
My next comp is this Saturday at Birmingham for the last 2 uk open qualifiers so fingers x i can get enough to qualify into Friday night.

Thanks
